We have also in 2007 had the great opportunity of conducting successful trials and a project at a large parkland estate on the Staffordshire border. Our objective was to complete a project on roadside verges, without the need of using topsoil or turf and grow direct on to a stoned area, so that the aesthetic appeal of the park remained intact. Michael Evans from Balfours and Stuart Craddock, Weston Park’s Park Operations Manager were keen to trial the new technology.
Using RIZA technology it enables us to convert graveled or stoned areas in to grasslands with the added benefit of drainage and the area not becoming a mudbath. Applications would be suited to the following applications:-
Pathways - Coastal erosion, giving drainage, supporting cars and trailers and everyday public wear and tear.
Grass verges – where traffic has worn away the grass on tarmac driveways.
National heritage parks – full restoration programmes through varying technologies, where grounds men or maintenance people can be trained in applications. A practical solution for the environment and sustainability.
Quarries – gravel, sand pit restoration and areas of wastelands.
Sporting events – such as horse trials, rugby and football pitches where the ground has been damaged and needs to be repaired rapidly.
